Polo Show 2008

Featured Replies

I am pleased to announce a date and location for Polo Show 2008...

Date:

12th-14th September 2008

Location:

Whittlebury Park

Nr. Towcester

Northamptonshire

NN12 8WP

This year we need your help and co-operation more than ever! The venue have allocated us a field, but they may allow other people to camp there unless Club Polo can book all 200 plots. We don't have the funds to do so - so we need your help to make this year's show work.

What can I do to help? You can pre-book your camping for the weekend by filling out the following booking form, and pay in advance:

This will help to ensure that all of Club Polo get to camp together, as well as saving you money! The club has forked out for dedicated plots for the marquee and show and shine areas, but it's up to you guys to make sure you all book early enough to get allocated plots in our field!

I cannot stress enough how important it is that this year ALL of our visitors behave. Sadly, the behavour of a few individuals last year lost us our old venue - and this has cost the club dearly, both financially and in terms of the additional workload on the organisers. Please don't let it happen again!

niceeee, but remember best behaviour as we kinda need to keep this site!

superb! still nice and central too! whats the deal about people visiting for one day? does it cost as much as for 1 night camping?

great stuff. lets hope a bunch of cock suckers dont go spoil it this time.

excellent news Andy.

I'm sure i speak on behalf of a lot on here in thanking those involved in arranging this years show. Hopefully everyone gets stuck in and make this a great Polo Show.

Glad to see its in the same region as last year

Thrilled its on- well done all involved for getting it sorted so quickly! Will be booking as soon as payday comes too :D :D :D

time to book some holiday off :D

Will have to see who plans on coming in our group and measure out how big a 6x7m plot is and see how many wee need. Excellent news.

Indeed. Liz did ask whether any of the track is visible from the campsite, but the answer's no. Plus this is the official campsite for the Silverstone track, so expect them to be pretty hot on security to keep you off the track!

Sunday day/camping is £10 entry in advance - if you just want to come for the day on Sat/Sun and not camp, then speak to Whittlebury and see what they can offer. It really is worth trying to stop over though, it's mainly the evening banter over some beers that I love about Polo Show!

Whittlebury are wary of just letting people on-site with day passes, as it's hard to police the cheeky people that then choose to camp with just a day pass! We have offered to help keep an eye on cars, so be warned!

You'll need one plot per car and tent.

comgrats on getting a place sorted :D

quick question:

does the payment run untill the sunday then??

ie:

for £30

you arive on friday, and get acping for friday and saturday??

I thought its an excellent location, hopefully everyone can find it ok!

Also its payment for a car and a tent not per person, so if you can double up or bring any mates along then it will bring the costs down :-D all cars that are there have to have valid passes on display at all times, as Andy says its for health and safety and we will all be checking. Its less hassle and more fun to just book in for the night or weekend

there is of course nothing to stop people booking to go into the track to watch the le mans trials as well, whittlebury said that sometimes they have tickets to sell at the time but thats not guaranteed and i don't know what it would cost, so anyone interested might want to investigate that. I'm sure we will be able to hear it tho

because we have to share the site and it may get very busy we need to book as many plots as soon as possible, if we did take over that field there is another one next door ;) there will be plenty of loos and showers, and I think the le Mans people have plans to have a bar and some food places open so it looks like a really good fun weekend.

I know its early but please this year can everyone try to bring some supplies with them so we can minimise the amount of people driving in and out. as we don't want to annoy the organisers!

thanks

may camp the saturday night then to keep numbers up but i'll decide closer to the time

sweeeet

will defo be there from the friday till sunday then.

how will the plotting system work??

will it be a case of parking up with the convoy you come in or will there be allocated plots??

would be shiiiiite if one person is stuck in between allthe le mens lot

basically as they take bookings they are going to allocate us to one field and everyone else starting in the other field and then spreading out depending on if we fill up our field or if they get really busy we will get people to start to be booked onto our field, we could not reserve all 200 plots on this one field unfortunately as they are too afraid of loosing money.

The plots are pretty big bearing in mind that for most people its just a polo and a 2 man tent which is good as we can be more organised than before, I had to explain how we worked as a club as they are used to people booking individually to attend an event at silverstone not a load of people booking together to have their own show! but they have everything we need like billing did (except no fair I'm afraid :-() and seem very helpful.

I'm sure you can all appreciate its a new venue and a bit of a new experience for all parties so if anyone has any questions we will try to answer them.

a couple of us are going to go in a month or so and have a look around and iron out any queries we have. But I think its very exciting and it will all work out really well if we can all pull together :-D

U knowz it.

So, if all 200 plots are booked, that field will be the Club Polo field?

How many cars were at last years event?
