Port matching

Featured Replies

Does the standard 2G head have enough meat in it to enlarge the inlet port to the same size as the gasket? Same question for the inlet manifold?

You can port the gasket part of the 2G inlet to match the GK. As for going deep down the answer is no I'm afraid.

The 2G head is already 'full size' near enough, so any port matching will be negligible.

The real work to be done is on the inner radius of the inlet (a little bit) and exhaust especially, where just a light smoothing should pay off. I should find out first hand when I fit my cyl. head.

is he not asking about the inlet manifold?

Actually - I'm not sure - what are the relative sizes of the (standard 2G) head inlet port and the inlet manifold port? Is there a step between them and which way?

all the pics I've seen show the head ports are way bigger than the inlet...thats why people try to find the euro GK manifold as it matches the head ports

Yep GK inlet near enough matches the head

Roger Dodger!!! NOW I understand!

what had you got in mind to port the mani? i thought about doing mine but figured its not worth the cost in tools/abrasives if done well, it would be hard to port the whole length of the tubes

don't port match the exhuast/mani :|
