i have a scirocco that i bought about 2 months ago, i love the thing, it drives nice, good on fuel, it just doesnt seem as quick as it should be,,, thats where the weber carb comes in, the bloke before me had already fitted it (himself), and he was exactly a vw enthusiast so I'm guessing that it has not been tuned correctly. i have another rocco same year and engine without a weber on and it seems alot nippier.

i have just put an induction kit on which made quite a bit of difference in terms of throttle response but still doesnt seem as quick as my other car.

any words of advice from anyone would be appreciated.

You'd be lucky to see more than a 10% increase with a 32/34 carburettor on a Golf, Polo or a Scirrocco for that matter.

The sound makes it seem like more.

Is it a 32/34 that sits on top the inlet manifold? You can try to change your jets to help seek a bit more economy/ performance. Other than that they are only driveability carbs I'm afraid.

As said, try some different jets with the carb. Other than that, better manifold inlet etc etc.

Sound is better with the weber but you should not feel as if it has less power so i think that it may not be setup correctly or the jets are wrong.

With a polo changing to a weber doesn't do much but with coupled with a GK inlet you get a bit more poke.

They can flow at least enough air for 100hp, the same carb is fitted to 1.8s with different jets. Have a look at what jets are in it now and report back. IIRC the standard 1.6 carb jets are:

idle55

main 120

air 155

emulsion F25

idle 60

main 125

air 155

emulsion F30

kool cheers guys will have a look at the jets as it had a brand new inlet manifold on it last year. anyone no where i can get some from if i need them??

loads on ebay...

Also check if your handbrake is on.
