i recently got an mk3 polo off a friend for a very very cheap price

its a sound runner and bodywork is in good condition (as far as i see theres only 1 or 2 mot failures, which i am working on fixing)

my question is, its currently SORN and I'm still learning to drive.

i understand that to make it road legal and insured, i have to first MOT it and pass, then TAX it and then get insured on it.

but is that correct?

i was hoping to get insured, then mot it and tax it (tthis would make moving it around a bit easier, though technically still illegal without tax or mot)

and if my first presumption is correct, what if the driver of the car gets pulled over on the way to the MOT test, or returning from it?

apart from traveling to mot station and back, however i'd be prepared if it pass mot to tax it on way home

as far as am aware your allowed to drive a car for mot without tax

You can drive a car with no tax to a *pre-booked* MOT test.

You need to be insured thoush still.

In order to get TAX you need: Insurance, Proof of ownership and Valid MOT certificate

You can drive the car to and from an MOT (and even to a weighing station i think)

without tax but the car must be insured!!!

I think the car doesn't even have to have number plates to take it to an MOT test.
