Been looking at a car..

Featured Replies

Hey

Have been looking at the following bmw 3 series advertised at auto trader

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...mp;max_mileage=

Now I know these are nice cars but surely there is something wrong with that price and mileage? What are the best ways of checking out a car, if its been a write off etc?

I might call and ask what work needs doing to it as mentioned as its only 16 miles away I can easily go see it.

Thanks

Phone and ask if there are any docs or history at all. If not, I'd be staying away. No tax and no test on a 2001 BMW?

Yeah exactly what i was thinking. Spesh with work needed on a 01 bmw, both my parents have a 3 series and i know if properly looked after they are happy runners. Will give him a call and ask for history, thanks

Can't you check up on a vehicle to see if its been classed as a write off, stolen/recovered etc? can't remeber whats it called tho!

Hpi check??

Doesnt sound right to me though, no tax or test?

i'd be staying clear of that one

John

i'd be doing hpi check and going over the bodywork for signs of an accident repair

I'd stay well away!

A couple of weeks ago there was a 03 plate m3 for £8000!

Would you buy a BMW with MOT or tax from Mr Hussain? THAT IS THE QUESTION?

says it needs slight attention thou.... attention to what? engine gearbox or bodywork? sounds dodgy to me! if i was to view this car i would take a mechanic, be handy knowing a BMW tech

here is a number that will change your life...

83600

you text the car reg to it (no spaces), it tells you about its history (accident and cat write off stolen recover etc etc) colour owners blah blah basically all the info you require before you go look... its costs £3 and you get 2 text messages... top little service, I've used it a couple of times... ;)

Thanks for the number, will use that.

Thats what I mean, it looks real dodgy but if its genuine and the work is easy enough to do then its a steal. Might ask to go see it on friday, if its dodgy then i'll be looking for a 320 compact!

if anything is a bargain on autotrader it usually sells straight away
