Cheap and cheerful and cat 1 usually don't go in the same sentence. What's your budget?

theres some on ebay for around 200-300 iirc, its no good having a cat 1 alarm tho unless you get it fitted and get a certificate to go with it.

So i take it that i will be better off buying one from a shop and getting them to fit it and sign/give me a certificate?

yes, but some of the places on ebay offer this, but for the price i'd be careful of the that its all above board tbh.

Thanks for the link and any idea how much an alarm would cost to get fitted?

not 100% true, there was a similar thread about this on hawk alarms, yes you do need the certificate, but according to a guy off here who actually installs alarms for a living, the installer has to be competant, i.e. you dont actually need any qualifications to fit them. there are a few cheap cat1 alarms on ebay, check they have an installation diagram though, cos they can be a bit tricky to fit. if you struggle with wiring stereos then your best off getting it installed! the quality of the installation is as important as the alarm itself!
