If you read it has a straight 5 cylinder turbo engine in it. My dad drives a 2003 Volvo S60 T5 which is probably the same engine. His has 250bhp and can hit 60 in 6.8 secs according to the spec. That's in a car that weighs 1539kg. Basically 2 GT coupe's. Imagine that on a lightweight body without glass and all the modern day features which add so much weight.

Look at the custom machining though.... I mean brake discs mounted round the edge of the wheel like on them Harley powered Buell bikes.... and look at the front axles, either that thing is a hell of a bumpy ride or there's shocks hidden inside the space of the body!!

Same here, dad used to drive that age Volvo S60 T5, people I don't think really know how fast they actually are. The R is even faster.

Yeah and the R is 4WD instead of FWD, allowing it to apply the power evenly under all wheels for even more acceleration, then just for the hell of it they squeezed 300bhp out of the same engine (I think). I'd love to drive it sometime, it's shocked my mates at how quick it pulls, and from the inside you barely hear it, yet I've seen heads turn from the outside as they hear it better. Amazing engineering, but bloody expensive in the long run.

Yeah, it is the same engine but the turbo has "higher pressure" or sooooommmething. He got rid of it becuase of the pure cost of running it. They have really nice interior as well. People just see Volvo and expect it to be a old mans slow car but in fact the R isn't far off a M3.

I was looking at ex-old bill V70's at one point. 4wd sounds like a bloody good idea on them.

I still like 262's better though

Can't blame him mate, £300 for a service and the trackrods are going before 50k, which we found out is gonna be another £1400... Kinda depressing for my dad when you think about it, we're not made of money and he enjoys his car as do I enjoy mine, but there's £1700 which couldve got him the huge-ass plasma tv system hes dreamed of lol. Instead we joke about how my 16 year old Polo cost less than a service of his car and how it still gets me out for my lessons and I can fix it myself.... Gotta love the simplicity of the older cars!!
