My Girlfriends mum has bought one of these!

Its base spec 800cc with 17miles on the clock for 5k

I pleaded with her not to buy one due to the crap I've heard about them and the very very poor euroncap crash results, but as shes a moron she went and handed 5k straight to a dealer

Anyways anyone have any experience of these please are they as bad as what I'm thinking?

I ttried one once. Put a set of blades underneath and it'd probably be a nice drive for a lawnmower.

If she can't find a better way to spend her hard earned (Panda and the Agila/Wagon R are far better) she should have got a second hand one because they depreciate like crazy, they lose half their value in 2 years.

Feel as if they're going to roll over when you go round round-a-bouts at

speed and they're scary on the motorway...Good on petrol though

My wife wanted one, so we've got one and she hates it. They really are crap, unstable, very flimsy. But to be fair, it's doing the job it was purchased for and been reliable so far, so serving its purpose. Cheap run about!!!

i feel sorry for you dude! my mate had one of these hairdryers as a courtesy car when he had an accidentand he let me drive it round the car park at school. omg it was the most pathetic thing I've ever been in!

i drove one in halfords fittin a stereo and i was impressed with the look of the interior, build quality e.t.c..the drive tho, seems just like any small car, smiliar to the toyota aygo or peugeot 107

I had one as a courtesy car when some silly tart ran into the back of my golf at the lights. Too high, too narrow, felt like it would fall over every time I went round a corner. We nicknamed it 'the flying rollerskate' (with more than a little irony). It was a 1.1 and that was bad.

God was I glad to get my Golf back - drove out of the accident repair place, and it felt like I was sitting on the floor (my Golf was standard height )

The only way i can think that she was so blinded to the matiz's shitness was that it was a new car for 5000... Are there actually any other new cars for that much?

Wouldn't have thought so, and there is probably a good reason for that. 800cc Matiz' are the sort of car that you overtake on the motorway doing 40 mph uphill... I think they were designed for veeerry flat roads lol.

Its funny though even though it is an 800cc shitter, it still chucks out 50bhp

It might well be relatively powerful compared to older VW engines, but I bet it still weighs a lot more than a Mk2 Polo.

I dunno what its torque figuers are but I bet there pretty horrendous

i work for chevrolet and the matiz isnt guna b brilliant its a budget car at the end of the day ther good 4 zipping around town in e.t.c but thats is really there actually pretty reliable as we dont get that many in service for repair but after say 20-30k they depreciate things start 2 rattle carpet wears through e.t.c

My mate got a matiz from his Dad as a Birthday present

They are comically slow, I think I'd rather walk or cycle than drive one.

My mate says once he gets himself a decent car he is going to take the matiz out and not come back till he tips it over. Should take all of 30 seconds

But yeah would never buy one personally, let alone had over £5k for one!

Yeah man they were proper shifting, I didn't know mobility scooters could go that fast!

In context it's not that bad - it's for people who want a reliable, practical runabout for city driving. It's not meant for spanking around the Nurburgring.

As for poor Euro NCAP results, remember it's a ten year old design and fairly comparable to most small cars of that age. It's actually safer than an E36 3 series BMW.

total waste of 5k imo.. not trying to sound mean. But you can really do better for your money.. i.e mini one with 60k for the same money.
