insurance cool off period?

Featured Replies

Hi, took out a very cheap policy last week, and it turned out to good to be true!

got the letter and it says I'm female(minimul jokes please) and I'm guessing changing to male is going to cost me an arm and a leg so iv hunted around for a better quote and iv found one from a different company.

I want to cancel this one and use the money from that and some on top to purchase the new policy the same day, since its within the two week cool off period i should be ok?

if not, well does anyone want to buy a polo GT? :p

Since it was the insurer's mistake (as I'm guessing you didint say you were female  ) I'm sure, with abit of pursuasion and explaining it should be okay to switch. You never know, they may offer you discounted insurance on your "corrected" insurance.... Quite unlikley they'd offer you a discount though, but if you sound upset enough....

I'm sure it's 14 days.

yep 2 weeks....

I'd say get on the phone to the insurer and say you think they have made a mistake to your policy. When they change it if they say they need to charge you more say the reason you accepted the policy is because of how cheap it was. And you think it will be highly unfair to charge you more for a mistake they made. If that dont work I'd ask to speak to a supervisor, they usually start to panic then

Plus they record the calls so it can be proven.

Do you have a girls name?
