I've just bought a cheap alarm kit from ebay which has remote start which I've just found out here is no use in my 04 9n. It also has microwave and shock sensors which to be honest I'll prob not fit. So the only thing I'm using the alarm for is remote central locking. I'm hoping someone on here knows the ins and outs with wiring it up and can tell me where's the best place to splice in and what colour wires I'm looking for.

you are going to need diodes and a 1k resistor to get it to work

you need 3 diodes for the door trigger circuit and that is quite fiddly to do

also the locking is negative resistive locking

so you will need to connect your lock wire from the alarm to the blue/white in the drivers footwell then you need to put the 1k resistor in line on the unlock wire and then connect this to the same blue/white wire that you connected the lock wire to

Cheers for getting back to me. I was thinking I was only going to need to lacate door lock/unlock wires, splice in corresponding wires from alarm and job done! If I'm needin to bring diodes and resistors into the mix I might give the whole thing a miss. How much would a decent auto electrician take to fit it for me? Mind you if I was one and someone came to me with a 20 quid alarm from ebay I prob wouldn't want to touch it.

Hi troublestarter. I am in australia and taking delivery of a polo 2007 with central locking but want to fit a remote like shaun.

So is this how it works: connect a 1k resistor in series with a diode ( anode to lock side) to earth triggers OPEN and similiary for close?

If this is the case why do i need 3 diodes? also can you tell me what colour is CLOSE, OPEN and GROUND?

is here an instruction or schematic you might have?

I've been considering the same thing for my car too.

I could prob come up with a simple circuit using some diodes and a 1k resistor - something like a 1N5820. Is a 3A rating enough?

Can anyone (troublestarter?) give the wire colour codes for the central lock motors? Maybe even an idea of component spec?

I've just fitted a Toad remote locking unit to a 9n3 polo. The wiring is detailed in another post in this forum, no diodes needed !

Iam about to install a DEFA 800 CAN-BUS alarm in my polo 2006 (9n3 i guess, dont have a clue what that nr stands for).

According to this post I need that circuit for the door pins.

I guess I also need to tap in to left and right turning lights as well, any chance you got the color of those wires in your head ?
