  • Ah the avy crank pulley is the same as the afh on on width so works with the afh timing belt Spent the night pulling both engines apart lol

  • Does anyone know if the main bearing/crank bearings cap bolts are stretch bolts and do you guys replace them when swapping cranks and such. Cheers

  • I'm with Guy, I really, really don't think this is a good idea. I'd tackle just about anything I think I can do, but drilling a block 10 times and hoping that they'll all come out perfect? If it's

What timing belt cover are people using.

As I've built my AVY/AFH hybrid and need to add timing belt covers due to the nature of racing I will be using the car for. Autocross (basically raing on grasss/dirt)

You can use the standard one with part of the engine mount still fitted or you can get a full length one which was fitted to some Seat Ibiza's I think..

Anyone knoow of any alternate 1.6 piston and rod sets for this? for more reliabile and easier power?

Couple of questions.

People using the AVY block. What timing belt covers have you used and does the AFH metal engine mount block that attaches to the block fit the AVY/ARC engine?

I've ordered the following parts which are from a Seat with the AFH engine and they are supposed to fully cover the whole timing belt without the need to have the engine mount attached to the side of the engine

036109143B toothed belt cover base
036109121M toothed belt cover upper /
036109127K toothed belt cover / Lower

However 036109143B toothed belt cover base is on back order from VW Germany so I don't know if I will be able to get it. So I'm thinking I might just use the full AFH set-up including the engine mount. Hence the question.

Also I'm using a Mk2f Sump. Does anyone know what the new oil capacity would be for the engine? Same as a mk2f engine?

I've had a good read through and started the conversion swapping arc crank and pistons into the afh block, how much 'play' have people got when new big end bearings are fitted ( con rod to crank) mine just seem to move a bit ore than I expected? Any help would be appreciated guys
