No offence but its shite...... sorry couldnt help my self lol :) i like it, I love the wheels very different from the bbs's we see alot of, I'm sure it could go lower though ;). Good stuff :)

i like it too, if it was mine i would give the wheels a quick blow over with a spray gun but other than that looks like youve put some good effort in.

I reckon some TH Monos mirror polished would st this car off nicely

I'm a fan mate!

Also, is your dad baked??

Edited by stevemk3

What's that spliter you got? it looks beefy

^ ignore what i jus said... i jus read it in your list... :ninja:

Does the GTI splitter fit straight on?

Loving it tho, good work

I like it mate, but id like it more if you said you were gunna keep it and carry it on. Its hard to admire as much when I know you are going to sell it soon. Sounds ridiculous and probably is, just what i think though

Cheers for the comments guys ! Il go and take some pictures of my recaros in a bit so you can all have a look

And haha about the baked part!

Cheers :-) I completely understand, but dont worry I really do love this car! probably as its my first car (that I've actually legally been allowed to drive), I'm looking to stay polo but just looking for a mk5 onwards to pop up so I can have something a little nicer to drive. I will keep modifying this during the time I own it :-)

Heres a few pics of the seats, I think they suit the interior really well as the grey is quite similar to the rest

Old and new

214.jpg

Both seats in :-D Excuse the uncleanliness, need to give it a good hoover out

It's a nice motor mate, I like the wheels also.

get the alloys sprayed black, black always looks dope as hell on that colour, looks cool thou

wow! i love them alloys and i wouldnt spray them any colour they look mint as is!! black will jus ruin them IMO as its the multi spokes in silver that ssts them out from others!!

I would however get a matte black or a dark grey rattle can at the door cards fabric, jus spray the material with a rattle can to try blend the colour of seats and it would really suit the seats and complete the interior i think!! looks odd having two patterns material !

Otherwise lukn great!

i must say that looks quite nice mate :) well done

looks nice! can see your number plate in the puddle haha.

Thanks for the suggestion :-) I did think of going black but I'm swaying more towards the same colour or a gunmetal grey

Big thread revival !

Saw these wheels and had to have them, have been looking for something to set the car off for a while. Buying these sparked of the need to do the rest of this work

The wheels (which will be revealed when most of the work is done) are 15x8 & 15x8.5 and they are wrapped in 165/50 Kumho's, everyone is welcome to guess what these beauties are !

Rather a picture do the talking !

This is the 8J

wheel2.png

My car is going into my dads garage tomorrow for 2 weeks, or maybe longer, whenever the work is done. I will be doing all work apart from spraying as my skills cannot compete with my Dad's 30+ years of experience.

Plans are:

Starting at the front of the car

Spare GTi gloss black splitter for shows etc.

Smoothing the front number plate recess + two upper side grills.

Smoothing indicators on the wings.

Smoothing jacking points on the sills.

Smoothing the little panel underneath the rear lights into the rear quarters.

Smoothing the badge and handle of the tailgate, boot popper to open boot.

6n2 all red rears.

Black roof.

Rolling and flaring of all arches to accommodate wheels. Possibly spacing the wheels out a bit if clearance on the coilovers is an issue.

And general repair of little dings picked up from fu**ing car parks ! :x

Possibilities are a bad bad boy bonnet, smoothing the sills into the rear quarters and hid's. Not really sure about any of that yet + the bad boy bonnet will be done to a spare bonnet.

Also, I have been looking at an x reg (think that's 1980) mk1 jetta 5 door, that i need in my life ! Plan for that if I get it, is to completely restore it + 20vt it :-D

Will probably update while the work is going on.

Cheers

Been a while !

Heres a pic of how my car now looks

Bestpicofmycar.jpg

Will update with pics of all the work getting done in the near future

SO THIS IS WHERE THE BIG CHANGE CAME !

I new that my car wouldnt be special without the perfect set of rims, and when I saw these I had to have them !

A few quid later and I had bought what sparked the next lot of work to my car.

073.jpg

A staggered set of 8s & 8.5 Js

072.jpg

I had a spare kuhmo 165/50 tyre laying around, so chucked it on the wheel and then chcuked the wheel on the car to see how much arch work was needed.

087.jpg

So after booking a few weeks off work, I got the car in my dads garage and commenced the work

Planed to do the following:

Smooth front bumper plate recess, two upper grills, and towing cover

Smooth rear bumper tow eye cut out

Smooth the jacking points in the sills, and smooth the joining line in the sill

Smooth little panel under the rear lights into the rear quarter

Smooth tailgate handle and badge recess, and de wiper the rear

Smooth the petrol flap so I cant open it

Roll and flare all of the arches to accommodate the new wheels

Black roof

and getting rid of any little dents and niks that the car had picked up from daily driving

Started stripping the car AGAIN

082.jpg

084.jpg

085.jpg

Started smoothing the tailgate, by cutting out a plate and welding it in over the badge recess

088.jpg

090.jpg

Then started smoothing the handle by doing the same

091.jpg

All done !

092.jpg

Then onto smoothing the little bit under the lights, ground down and welded up the gap

094.jpg

097.jpg

Next was to smooth the sills

099.jpg

100.jpg

102.jpg

I then started on the arches, rolled and flared the fronts, cant remember by how much, but I also got rid of the flat lip on the arch

103.jpg

104.jpg

107.jpg

108.jpg

109.jpg

Testing the arches

110.jpg

111.jpg

115.jpg

Onto the rears

116.jpg

117.jpg

Testing the arches

118.jpg

119.jpg

120.jpg

Welding up the arches

121.jpg

122.jpg

Skimming and finishing the arches

123.jpg

124.jpg

125.jpg

Getting the arches in primer

126.jpg

128.jpg

129.jpg

132.jpg

134.jpg

I then started smoothing the front bumper, by using the old 8v bumper I had

135.jpg

136.jpg

137.jpg

138.jpg

Plastic welded the plate into the grill

139.jpg

Then some skims of filler

140.jpg

141.jpg

The other side

144.jpg

145.jpg

147.jpg

Onto the plate recess

148.jpg

150.jpg

All done

151.jpg

153.jpg

154.jpg

Then smoothed the rear bumper

155.jpg

Put in primer

157.jpg

158.jpg161.jpg

159.jpg160.jpg

And then there was paint !

164.jpg165.jpg167.jpg168.jpg169.jpg170.jpg171.jpg172.jpg

All painted

173.jpg174.jpg175.jpg

176.jpg

It was at the last wlc which some of you may have spotted it at.

Few more plans I've got for it, are to tidy up the interior abit, maybe false floor the back and a nice install

Make some custom coileys for it because at the moment its not low enough for my liking and the front is wound down all the way with the helpers out !

Fab up a nice rear exit exhaust

And get a nice set of winter wheels for it, probably 15s, if anyone knows of a cool set of 15s for sale, send them my way

All comments are welcome, good or bad

Cheers for reading, safe people
