Oh - also if it's of use to anyone, I found this place selling chrome window trim. It's for a mk1 golf so not 100% sure it will fit, but I figure it was worth a shot to try and sort out the corroded stuff on mine.

Will post back to let you know if it works.

congrats on the baby mate.

looking forward to updates!

Lovely car dude, best shape polo vw made i'd say, maybe :paranoid:

As for the chrome trim, for the windscreen and rear window its the same as mk1 polo, mk1 golf and t3 stuff- you can get it from vw heritage still too

Thanks - you're right - it's identical to what I've pulled out of the windscreen. Only problem now is, after an hour of faffing around in the drizzle, I can't get the new one in, no matter how hard I try. No amount of elbow grease, fairy liquid, WD40 or swearing seems to do the trick.

It's not a window-out job is it? I really didn't sign up for that...

Thanks :) Updates will probably be a bit slower this year. I had all of last week off, but Baby Louisv6 decided now would be a good time to give us all stomach flu... I expect she'll only get more demanding :-D

Am after some centre caps for the alleycats if anyone knows where I might find some (or has some for sale).

I get the impression they're rare as hen's teeth though :(

Stunning

You can get a tool to help fit it while the screen is in, though I'm not sure where from :crybaby:

I know there was a thread for this on mk1 polo forum and a few people said the only way they got it on was through having the screen out- if you do that squeeze the seal to open a slot for the trim and fit that first, then attach it to the window then to the car... there might be another way though

its only a 5 minute job removing and fitting :paranoid: just got to be careful

Who wants this car? Has been sat in my garage since 2014 collecting dust. Zero on the road. 8 SORN. These things are rare as hell but I just don't have time to put into it any more. Someone make me an offer. It hasn't run for 5 years so consider it a barn find. You'll probably want to change all the engine rubber as a minimum. Who knows what else needs doing engine wise. But the body is totally sound as it has been dry stored.

These are all old photos but you get the idea. Only difference between now and then is it hasn't run for aaaaages, it's wearing g60-ish-looking steelies with 'beauty rings' and has a lot of dust on it. Had both sides fully sprayed and all rust professionally sorted a few years back. Then had babies and it went into the garage. Someone must want it...

Also, watch the video on the first page. I had forgotten how great this thing sounds.
