aajr's 6n2 GTi

Featured Replies

Hi guys, owned the Polo about 3 weeks now and I love it! Sitting pretty standard at the moment as haven't really had a chance to get started with Uni deadlines and that. Here she is:

All i've got round to adding is the red grill strip and the bonnet bra, also treated the paint with a deep black finishing wax which worked better than expected :)

slightly odd, but i recently came into owning a GTi aswell (see here 8-) ) only owned it for about a week

it's also a black 3 door

and i'm also at uni meeting deadlines

what uni are you at mate?

its a very nice looking GTi i must say

i have also ordered some red pipping for the grills :-D

but what did you use to bring the paint up?

hand polish or machine polish?

edit*

and i have no idea why i posted a link to my thread, because i just realised you commented on it the other day :D haha

and as you said; red grill trim ftw :D

Ahhh yeahh i've seen your thread that was a proper bargain!

I'm at Birmingham City, you? These deadlines are killing me lol! Thank God i don't have exams though :-D

Ahah thanks! Yeah got mine off eBay too came well quick, next day I think

Used this Turtle wax kit i picked up from Halfords, paid around £20 for it i think, to be honest i wasn't expecting that much from it but it really did make a big difference! Brought the metallic element of the paint out more too :)

I'm TPFT with Chaucer (Got it through Sky Insurance) paying around £1500 with 0 NCB (bearing in mind my quote for a 1.4 6n2 was £800 fully comp :| lol) So it did practically double mine too :( . . . I just bought a headlight restoration kit too don't know about you but my headlights look all cloudy n manky :( lol gonna sort them out when it arrives :)

I noticed it but didn't say anything :p. Tbh, I like your Gti as it is. But needs to be made mean! So when you pull up next to some chav they think *WTF!!!* XD

I'm currently paying £800 on a 1.9 (non turbo) diesel with my mum and dad as named drivers and 1 years NCB and 1 years license (gonna be 2 years in august)

and I'm looking at paying double that for a GTi :x but it's a great car, and the sale of my old car with cover the insurance :-D

same, my dad used it on the red polo and he said it wasn't that good :( I'm gonna look on here for a step by step guide and apply some more elbow grease and see what happens :D

Looks clean ;).

Cheers :D it had just had a wash and polish hahah

Can you tell me exactly what you did to get the headlights like that? Mine are godawful lol

Also, how did you affix the red pipping? Glue? Lol

  • Author

Basically just cut them back, wet sanded them different grades, and then plastic polish :) (I cheated and bought a turtle wax kit for it off amazon, I was just too lazy to order everything separately  haha) Every 6n2 I see has the same problem lol! . . . For the piping I used insulation tape :) I found it was just the right width to attach :)
