Lowered my girlfriends MK2 polo, with Phil J kit, 80/60 kit, only got the rear on at the moment, at about 60mm, tyre is tucked nicely, no scrubbing at all, but at low speed, you can hear a low pitched squeak. It sounds like it is coming from the rear turret tops, maybe the doughnut bushing things either side of the turret?

Could they be over tightened or is there no such thing?

Also, the bump stop thing (the pink flump looking thing) on the shock is in bad condition but that shouldn't affect anything should it?

Because they're so worn anyway, could I cut them off and see if it eliminates the noise? And if so, I'll re-install them properly with new ones and hope the noise doesn't come back.

Or is it okay just not to run bump stops? The shocks are hard anyway, and I'm pretty sure the tyre would scrub the arch before the bump stop even reached anyway..

Phil J possibly lol! Dont cut the bump stops off ! Find the squeak before you start cutting stuff. Could be a loose top mount or anything.

Bump stops need replacing anyway, they're pretty much in half.

Can the top mounts be over tightened, or shall I just try and tighten them up some more to see if it stops the squeaking? I noticed it is more noticable on n/s.

It will be the bump stops, just get new ones, the top mounts shouldn't make noise unless they're noticeably knackered.

Don't run without them or you'll end up bursting the shocks fairly quickly.

Hmmmm, bump stops are off temporarily, still the same noise...

Could be the donuts on the top of the rear shocks inside the car squeaking.

Mine do from time to time.

Spray of silicon spray stops it. I use AutoGlym tyre shine. Lol.

It does sound like it is coming from the top rubber mounts tbh, but it's quite hard to pin point the noise haha. I think I'll probably take the rear shocks/springs off again and refit with new bump stops and doughnuts.
