Hi guys, does anybody know if the k&n Air filter for the carb will fit on the injection models. It looks like the bottom of the filters are the same.

 

Much prefer that to the round filter.

Smash them an email and ask if they can measure the internal diameter of the outlet?

The round filter housing does look old fashioned, but it draws cold air from its spout which sits close to the grill.  The K&N drawing direct from quite far back under the bonnet may pull in warmer air and cost you power overall,  you might want to consider if you can keep some form of a cold air intake.

if you use the K&N you'll need a catch tank for the block's oil breather.

 

Or the official K&N adaptor that sucks through the filter gauze or body.

From memory the filter hole for a Pierburg 2E's circular top is 92mm...

and confirmed by measuring a Weber twin choke to VW intake filter conversion plate.

 

Be careful about the three bolt holes though. They are not equally spaced so the filter might not point the way you expect to read K&N from front.

(that said I had a reverse mounted Weber 32DMTR)
