Red Mk3 GT/G40 on a 'Q' plate

Featured Replies

Hey,

Have seen this a couple of times now, very tidy looking Mk3 GT (I think as it has no bee-sting) on a Q plate, driving down the hill through the village towards the A50.

Looks like its down 40mm on 13" RA's, late rear lights and the proper black stuff behind the number plate!

Anyone off here?

Not sure what forum i've seen him on,was either here or E38.

think the car was a G40 but due to accident damage was written off/possibly reshelled and put on a Q plate

I would think it was possibly me, I live in Shardlow, up and down A50 to Leicester way everyday! Q97xxx . Red polo, BBS's, Red mudflaps

Wrote me J reg G40 off 3 days after buying, now in a GT shell, no be-sting or badges. Dont look all that, but she's still 130mph nutcase mobile!.! Had to Q plate because I used an H reg donor!

Kind regards

NealPeal!

Afraid she's had a bit of a crash, or quite a bit of a crash, Thursday 10th Jan on way home.. New body is required. Engine seems ok, steering OKish apart from a wheel and steering arm. Owoke in ambulance, glass and feds everywhere, nice!

I had bounced off the central reservation on A46 outside Wanlip sewage works... No-one hurt but my pride and wallet...! (phew!) Lucky really..

 not good at all! Are you ok? How bad was the damage on the car?

My brother lives in Leicester and told me about a red Q-plate G40 flying down the A50 the week before last. I guess it was you then!

I hope you and everyone involved is OK, but i would also like to think maybe you have learnt your lesson from this now?

The main lesson I learned is I am *lucky*, alive and well, except a few head-bumps and having no car. No other casualties.. I bounced off the central reservation and span into a rail-post, but missed all other cars, just outside wanlip seawage works towards the Hobby Horse.

Becuase the car is already Q plate, a new body is only a stamped chassis number and an MOT away.. The current one looks ok on the passenger side, but is about 3 foot shorter on the drivers side.. The drivers door-post is stuck into the seat (fortunately this time, no seat belt for me!), and the bumper is scuffed and the windows are nearly all gone.

With a year to do it, and saving £100 week in petrol, I am going to have it perfect before I drive again. The gearbox needs a new input shaft bearing, I'll do the Cam and Crank bearings and re-hone and ring it while I am there. The engine still runs, charger is still spinning, and air hoses/cooler are still airtight. Gearbox, driveshafts and legs are intact. One of the front wheels is pointing sideways, but nothing a re-body wont completely sort. I loved the old body, tidy and rust-free. Long live the new one, I know of an estate body that would love a G40 in I can have for £150.!

Sorry to anyone who was in the A46 traffic Thursday night,

Neal
