Polo 1999 6N Estate, engine ALM 1.6 75 hp. Minarelli ECU. The ground wire to the ignition amplifier (at the ignition coil) has burne because of to hight current. What has happened? Why has not fuse F4 (15 A) released? Can the brown earth wire got 12V from an other source. Could the electronics in the amplifier got a short cut? Has compared the coil with an other coil (ohm measurement) and found no differences. Regards / Erik

Problem solved! It was a lose ground wire at gearbox! The return current from start motor to battery took a shortcut via ignition coil. The ECU still works but it could have been injured by "load dump". BOYS AND GIRLS, CHECK YOUR GROUND CABLE CONNECTIONS!
