I deliberately run all my cars including my Mk2F Polo on stock dampers and springs, simply because of the state of all roads apart from Mways. My 924S was on stock Porsche springs and B4 dampers; this was the best setup i could find, but still bumpy. Lowering springs always have an increased spring rate so always feel stiffer. The higher your tyre wall is, the more supple the ride will feel, but you lose out with excess tyre roll in bends. My 2F is on standard steels and tyres, when i corner hard the tyres howl like hell and i'm basically driving it on the walls!
