I changed my car's whole speedo module when I moved from Germany to have miles and km for re-register in UK. (original showed optimistic 200 kmh topspeed... Nobody cares if it increases it seems, maybe insurance company if you have agreed a per year limit. I think I added 7000 miles in one afternoon.
