Cheap insurance is like the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow...

can't fucking get to it!

hi guys

long time lurker here as i do with most vw sites :-p

as for cheap car insurance , you must be having a laugh

last year i had a mk4 aum 1.8t , and thought i had an ok policy @ £600 wheels , brakes and rest of small mods declared .

but , roll time on 1 year , change of circumstances etc....

the golf is gone and today i bought an 8v open , adrianflux (the insurance company not the joke shop) quoted me £678 full comp , i'm 35 and have 9 years no claims , i nearly fell off my chair ,

i ended up with dial direct @ £520 , for a 1.4 puddle jumper , what is this world coming to ?

the con merchants that run these insurance companies should be jailed as it is pure daylight robbery and extortion

on the phone to these numbskulls , they were asking if the car had been modded , i.e. wheels sport seats etc....

but i told them that it was as it came from the factory , a 1.4cl , which it is , as it says on the v5 , if i ever happen to be in an accident and they try and default the policy as it has alloy wheels and sports seats they will have a fight on their hands as i have the original bill of sale for the car , to which it has all the 16v trimmings as is an openair .

i feel for all you younger guys n girls trying to get on the road , with these corporations ripping every last hard earned penny from your hands , i've read in this part of the forum that some folk are paying 3k a year , i feel for you's , and if it ever gets that bad for me , i'll buy a pair of £100 nike

I've just got a policy for me (23 driving for 5+Yrs claim free) and my girlfriend (24 - driving with full license for 6mths) for my W Reg 1.0 Polo with non OEM alloys.

I'm transferrig my new car (04 1.4 TDi Polo) on to my existing policy and using my NCD against the new one. So that left me looking for a policy for the old car for me and my girlfriend. I'd been quoted £2k+ by various people as we live in the Gateshead postcode which is quite high risk, aparently.

I was amazed that Admiral could offer a Fully Comp policy for ~£400 without any NCD (although they may have mirrored what I have on the other policy). It's a multi car policy so when it's time to renew the policy on my new car they'll get in touch again and if I choose not to switch it to Admiral I'll lose my Multi Car bonus but by that time she'll have been driving for a year and we'll have built up a NCB on the new policy so the price should come down anyway.

Think they may have been trying to buy a bit of business to meet monthly sales targets...
